TAKE AIR – A BENEDICTION

Now, my King, my Queen,
TAKE AIR.

Breathe in the possibility of a new tomorrow,
The hint of change in the atmosphere.

You are your ancestors’ wildest dreams,
The answer to prayers muttered under the breath of oppression,
The fullfilment of hopes carried along the long hard road to freedom.

My King, My Queen,
TAKE AIR.

I am certain and convinced of this:
That our brothers’ blood was not shed in vain.
That our brothers’ blood caused the pot of our ancestors’ wrath to boil over,
That his blood rattled and awakened their bones and their spirit,
And that they are here
Now
Alive
In us.

So, my King, my Queen,
TAKE AIR.

We have come this far,
And will go further than we’d ever hoped.

With determined minds,
And fire in our bellies,
With the ancestors blessings upon our heads,
And the spirit of God in our hearts

Let us pick up the baton.
Let us pick up the baton and bring change to this world,
Let us pick up the baton and bring healing to us,
Restoration and freedom in our midst.

We ARE the healers, the dreamers and guides.
We ARE the ones to bring change and induce hope into our peoples lives.

We are our ancestors’ wildest dreams,
The answer to prayers muttered under the breath of oppression,
The fulfilment of hopes carried along the long hard road to freedom.

We are Black Kings and Queens.

So TAKE AIR
Heal
And step into the light of our glorious future.
