Jess wrote YOUNG KING in 2018.
Now, a couple of years later, recorded and produced by their good friend MckNasty, the piece has been released as a single.
To bring it all to life, Jess asked their incredibly talented friend and creative director Edem Wornoo to come on board and YOUNG KING the film was born.

Jess firmly believes that there has never been a time where bringing this message to Black people all around the world has been more important and we are so excited to finally share this offering with the world.
Jess wrote Young King coming home from meeting their father, siblings and niblings in Alabama and Tennessee for the first time in 2018 (read the story HERE). As a Black woman, the years leading up to that moment, the murders of Black people and men and boys in particular in the US, the police brutality and injustices inflicted upon Black people around the world and those close to Jess had left them devastated as it was. Meeting more folks in their family in the US only amplified those emotions. So, she did what she knew to do: she wrote.
Young King is more than just a spoken word piece to them. It's a prayer, a declaration and a promise.
